Originally from Australia, I moved to Switzerland at 20 for a marketing internship. I met a Swiss man in a typical Swiss romantic setting (the local Irish pub), and twelve years later I find myself still here – living in Basel Land, married to the man from the pub, and raising another couple of Swiss citizens.
I have a corporate career in strategy & business development and love having the opportunity to do some writing on the side about one of my favourite topics – life in Switzerland. On top of family, work and writing, I have a slight obsession with books; buying them (I can feel my husband’s eyes rolling from here), reading them, and then reviewing them (you can check out reviews on my Instagram page). Fun fact: I also run my entire life (and that of my family) with a Bullet Journal.
Favourite z’Nüni … Vegemite & Gruyere sandwich with a big coffee
Favourite Swiss dish … Raclette
Favourite day trip … Lauterbrunnen, Grütschalp, Mürren & back to Lauterbrunnen, with whatever combination of gondolas, trains and walking we feel like on the day
Favourite Swiss cliche … punctuality. I used to snigger at the Swiss people who got angry with the announcement of a 2-minute delay of the train … now I am one of those people!
Never leave home without my … current book (although since having kids, I read pages in the book approximately 7% of the times I take it out with me).
A surprising fact … Despite being a terrible skier, I am an avid fan of professional alpine skiing – last season I watched nearly every race! It’s great having something to look forward to as winter arrives.
Favourite Swiss cheese … good old Gruyere
Favourite Swiss chocolate … Choba Choba, the strawberry jalapeno variety
