Swimming in Switzerland: The Ultimate Guide to Swiss Badis, Lakes & River Spots

Let me share with you the best places to swim in Switzerland!

Switzerland is home to over 1500 lakes, countless rivers and outdoor pools, swimming is a way of life in summer here.

A Badi is a public bathing area, either attached to a lake, river, or pool complex. And after living here in Switzerland over 20+ years, I have spent every summer exploring Badis across the country. Together with local families from all over Switzerland, I’ve compiled a review of over 20 swimming spots for you to swim with the locals and cool off in the swiss summer.

This guide is organised by region to help you find the closest place to swim when you are travelling.

The Swiss Swimming Season runs May-September, though some spots, especially lakes, are accessible year-round.
